What is OKRs?
Objective and key results (OKRs) is a system that helps your sales team to thrive. OKRs allow your sales team to work towards the company’s objectives, it expands their horizon as they establish their own stretched goals. It might sound complicated but here is how you can get started with your OKRs:
1. Objectives
This part of the OKRs is qualitative in nature. Before setting it up, make sure you have a clear idea of what you wished to achieve in the next quarter. Your objectives should be straight forward and easy to understand.
2. Key Results
After the objectives are set, create 2-5 quantifiable results. Key results are the steps that you can take in order to achieve your objectives. Remember, OKRs is all about stretched goals. Strategically-crafted key results can provide the momentum you need to move forward.
How OKRs motivate your sales team
1. Review
Constantly checking yourself in terms of where you are currently and where you want to be is a great way to motivate yourself. With a clear goal in mind, review your work and improve on the things that you wished to be better at. With evaluations, you will be able to figure out what you need to keep doing and how to perform one step ahead. Use the past to guide your future.
2. Milestone and Celebration
Who doesn’t like a celebration? For some, rewards are the main thing that pushes them forward. Whether is a meal or bonus, celebrations validate a person's effort invest in accomplishing a goal. When you hit a milestone, be sure to honour the hard work. This way, the motivation to work towards the goal will increase and not to mention how celebration will bring your team closer.
3. Guidance
Setting and monitoring OKRs isn’t enough. Sometimes, you need to take time to understand what is holding you back from being the best that you can. When you can’t meet your goals, ask your Sales Team Leader for guidance. If you take your OKRs seriously, you’ll gain knowledge and skillsets that help you produce the best results year after year!
